Late Mr.Lalit Doshi , IAS , took
over an secretary (Industries) , Energy & Labor Department
Government of Maharashtra on 10th August 1992. Lalit Joined the
Indian administrative service in 1966 after completing his education
at the Bharda New Highschool and St.Xevier's collage Bombay. This
culminated in Master degree in Economics from the University of
Bombay with a Gold Medal in Industrial Economics. He also held a
Diploma in Systems Management from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of
Management studies Bombay. He completed his studies in Management of
public Enterprises at Leeds University. U.K.
In his distinguished official career
spanning over twenty-six years Lalit held important positions under
the government of Maharashtra : Chief executive officer of
Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and secretary
in the Department of Housing , Institutional finance and planning .
Prior to his final appointment as Secretary (Industries). Government
of Maharashtra. He was the Managing Director Of the state Industrial
Investment Corporation of Maharashtra (SICOM) from 195 to 1990 he
worked as Joint Secretary Government of India. in the Ministry of
Petrochemicals. during his tenure as Secretary he played a major
role in formulating the New Industrial Policy for the state of
Maharashtra.
It was said of him: "He always had
a smile on his face irrespective of the magnitude and the tension of
work"
